Meet The Blogger – Tiffany Harrison
In our latest interview series which I like to call “Meet the Blogger”, where I spotlight inspiring creatives on this Blogger Magazine. We caught up with Tiffany Harrison who runs Tiffanydoesitall blog. Covering marriage, motherhood, the professional and academic worlds.Tiffany does it all and you can too!
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog?
I am a millennial, married mother of two. I work full-time and I am also a full-time doctoral student. In addition to all of that, I am an avid blogger. My blog Tiffanydoesitall.com is an opportunity for me to share my unfiltered experiences with marriage, motherhood, the professional and academic worlds. If I were to put my blog in categorical box, I would say that it is geared toward busy women that aspire to accomplish great things. I want women to know that motherhood and marriage does not have to stop them from reaching the other goals they have in their lives.
2. Describe what inspired you to start your blog?
I was inspired to start my blog when I found myself often giving advice to people in my circle. My friends often ask me questions about parenting, marriage, professional and academic advice. One day, a friend jokingly suggested that I should create a blog and share my experiences on a grander scale. Creating a blog had never occurred to me before that moment. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that it was a venture that I could do and enjoy. I just went for it. I built my blog myself from the ground up. I am very proud of where it is now.
3. How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?
I know that with anything that you want to see grow, you have to nurture and care for it consistently. A blog is no different. I realize when I am not posting new posts or marketing my blog, my viewership drops significantly. I also notice that when I am consistently posting, I see exponential growth. It’s all about consistency.
4. How active are you on a weekly basis? How often do you communicate with your followers?
I actually launch new blog post every week or every other week. I view my social media accounts as an extension of my blog. I am very active on my social media channels. I post to them almost daily. Many of my blog subscribers are also social media followers of mine. I use social media as way to connect with them on a more frequent basis.
5. What do you think is the best social media strategy for getting more visitors to a blog?
The gamechanger for me has been Pinterest. Prior to blogging, I used Pinterest vary sparingly prior to blogging. I am now more consistently on Pinterest than I am on any other platform. With a lot of hard work and consistency, I have reached 55K monthly viewers. Other than using Pinterest, I would also recommend that bloggers utilizes calls to action (CTA) on all of their social media post. I notice when I have post that clearly ask people to click a link, or visit my blog, they do. When I don’t say it as explicitly, my followers don’t visit as often.
6. Would you encourage other people to make their blog?
Absolutely. I would definitely encourage anyone that. Your voice is needed. It’s always interesting to me how you can find several blogs on the same topic, but everyone of them is different. It’s because we all bring something different to the table.
7. A lot of people think that blogging is an easy way to make money online. Do you have some tips for those people who are interested in making money from the blog?
Blogging is a way to make money online, but I would not call it easy. Blogging like any other job or hobby that you want to make lucrative is a lot of work. I so something for my blog every single day. What my readers see is a blog post. What they don’t see are the many revisions, me studying SEO strategies, me creating pins for my Pinterest account, or me scheduling posts for Instagram. All of these things together have made my blog successful. None of it is easy.
8. What was the most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?
The most challenging moments for me are when I run into writer’s block. There are times when I feel uninspired to create. In those moments, I don’t try to force myself to do it. I work on other aspects of my blog, until the inspiration returns.
9. What is your greatest achievement outside of blogging?
I am really proud of my accomplishments as an academic. I am a second-year doctoral student and I working on my doctorate degree on higher education leadership. In the last year, I was awarded two scholarships for my academic pursuits.
10. Who is your blogging hero And Why?
I love Tina from herlifesparkles.com. We are in the same niche and I love the way she presents her experiences on her blog. I see her the way I would want my readers to see me.
11. What advice would you give to a new blogger starting out?
Just do it. Go for it. Pick a niche that you are passionate about and start writing.
12. Have you collaborate with brands? If yes, name few brands you worked with
Yes. I have recently collaborated with two brands. One is Zulay Kitchen and the other is Pink Blush.
